On December 7, 2023, the opening ceremony of the first Child-Friendly Expo (hereinafter referred to as “CFE”) was held at Hall 2 of the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (Futian). Initiated by the Shenzhen Women’s Federation, the CFE is the first large-scale public welfare and product expo with the aim of being child-friendly. Themed by “City & Children”, the event is jointly guided by the Shenzhen Women’s Federation, the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the People’s Government of Futian District, and the People’s Government of Bao’an District. It is hosted by the Shenzhen Women and Children’s Development Foundation, in collaboration with Informa Exhibition (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., and supported by China Construction Bank Shenzhen Branch.

Distinguished leaders from relevant national ministries and commissions, the Guangdong Women’s Federation, and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, as well as representatives from UNICEF were in attendance at the opening ceremony. Additionally, participants included representatives from Hong Kong, Macau, related departments of Shenzhen Municipality and its districts, over 50 child-friendly cities at home and abroad, industry associations, social organizations, and enterprises. The opening ceremony was streamed live on Yishenzhen app, attracting 430000 people viewers.

The CFE is held from December 7 to 9, consisting of the Child-Friendly Theme Exhibition, the Child-Friendly Industry Exhibition, and the Exhibition of Excellent Works for the Child-Friendly Design Award. With the first release of the White Paper on the Insights of China's Child Industry Friendly Practices, it hosts the International Conference on Child-Friendly Cities and the High Quality Child Care Development Conference. The CFE gathers numerous excellent cases in child-friendly city development and top-notch enterprises at home and abroad.

The Child-Friendly Theme Exhibition features a range of captivating sections, including the Poster Exhibition for National Child-Friendly City Family Photos, the Excellent Case Exhibition on Child-Friendly City Development, the Installation Exhibition of Child-Friendly Terminology in Shenzhen, the Special Exhibition on Outstanding Designs of Child-Friendly Public Projects in Shenzhen, the Exhibition on Child-Friendly Projects and Activities by Social Organizations in Shenzhen, and the City Exhibition. Renowned creative architects and designers have been invited to curate these exhibitions, infusing them with innovative designs by adhering to green, low-carbon, and environmental-friendly principles. The event encourages designers to use eco-friendly materials and plans for the post-exhibition recycling and reutilization of the works, exemplifying the commitment to embracing sustainable development. Considering the children, the exhibition booths have been designed at a height of one meter to create an open and child-friendly environment. The Child-Friendly Theme Exhibition aims to be a catalyst for the Child-Friendly Industry Exhibition, garnering increased attention and opportunities for the industry child-friendliness. With the CBME in the Greater Bay Area held simultaneously, it creates a national platform for the children industry development, connecting domestic and international markets. A noteworthy addition to the event is the ceremony of the first Child-Friendly Design Award, demonstrating the dual honors of Shenzhen as the Design Capital and the Child-Friendly City.

On December 7, the International Conference on Child-Friendly Cities was held, as a child-friendly international exchange platform. The Conference witnessed nearly 400 participants, covering representatives from more than 50 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and across the country, world-renowned experts from various fields, and representatives from UNICEF. Together, they engaged in professional discussions, thematic interviews, and interdisciplinary dialogues, strengthening mutual learning and understanding. The Conference has served as a vital bridge for domestic and international exchanges, showcasing the exemplary child-friendly practices in China.
